The City of Chula Vista is developing a pedestrian master plan to create a vision of pedestrian mobility in the city and to direct pedestrian related planning efforts. The Pedestrian Master Plan will identify and prioritize pedestrian improvement projects based on technical analysis and community input and will make the City eligible for grants to fund project construction.
An emphasis of the plan will be pedestrian safety surrounding Chula Vista schools. To understand safety issues around elementary schools, the City and the City’s consultant team are coordinating the pedestrian master planning process with Chula Vista’s Safe Routes to School program, which is also under development. This program will include walking audits with community members in the areas around 36 Chula Vista elementary schools.
